they don't work, but they get paid
(I got scolded by my mum for not reading the newspaper-again. >.<
Several retirees who aren't working surprisingly discovered money deposited in their CPF account
Under the law, sectors such as service and manufacturing must employ a certain number of singaporeans/permanent residents before they can hire foreign workers.
These errant employeers are hoping to benefit from the new Job Credit scheme
-A total of $4.5 billion forked out so that
- Employeers get 12% cash grant on the first $2,500 of wages for every Singaorean/permanent resident on CPF payroll
Cost:Cheaper to hire foreign workers compared to locals
Time: Foreigners are willing to work longer hours
Attitude: Locals are more picky about jobs and quit easily
-"Quotas create problems because they create artificial barriers and people will find ways around them. What we should focus on is giving local workers a competitive advantage by improving their skills."
-Strong enforcement of existing rules. Employeers will then realise the consequences of flouting the law.
